GOOD NEWS FOR ANDROID TODAY!

We got a few hot topics that a lot of Android lovers out there are going to be excited to hear.
1. Motorola tweeted
the XOOM will have an unlockable/relockable bootloader that will enable developers to access hardware for development.
So it looks like Motorola’s notorious history of locking its bootloader down as been offset by the Xoom tablet. This is likely to do with the fact that the Xoom is the flagship device for Honeycomb and Google likely requested it to be developer friendly so the developers can have a “go-to” device to work with like they have done with their Nexus devices.
2. The “Nexi” (Nexus S and Nexus One) are BOTH going to be getting a 2.3.3 update bringing the Nexus One to Gingerbread at last! GoogleNexus tweeted
Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) update now rolling out to Nexus S and Nexus One. Be patient, may take a few weeks for OTA to complete.
But this update does come with a downside. In efforts to make Facebook develope a real API for integrating contacts with Android devices, Google hasrevoked Facebook’s app’s privileges to sync its cloud contacts to the phone. (Which makes people like me sad because that’s how I get images for all my contacts :[ ) Don’t worry though, this will only effect Nexus S users.
3. The final version of Honeycomb SDK version 11 has been completed and launched. For the geeks, here is the Android API Differences Report. Now we just got to wait to see what XDA can cook up out of that!
So lots of exciting news for Android today. Hopefully a lot more to come!
