iPad surpasses Linux in OS usage statistics

Well that was fast; the iPad has surpassed Linux in usage statistics, with iOS (iPad-only) taking 1.18% of usage while Linux is stuck at 0.71%. This is a sad thing for the Linux lovers out there, and in fact, the tablet passed the open-source OS sometime in December.

This is big win for the tablets, since in less than a year, Apple’s tablet has become one of the biggest “desktop OS” throughout the US; but this is a huge setback for the adoption of Linux and will only continue to push back the open source OS as more and more tablets start to gain popularity.
